EASTER REGATTA

Varied Yachting' Events at Paremata TWO DAYS’ RESULTS Fair weather, large entries, and keen sportsmen, nave all combined to make the Easter sailing regatta conducted by the Paremata Boating Club an unqualified success. It is safe to say that almost every centreboard yacht in YVellington is competing at Paremata this Easter, and races have been held continually during the prfst three days. Most of the important events were decided yesterday. The Rona-Jellicoe class championship was won in the afternoon by the Paremata boat, Peggy, sailed by Bob Parkin, the boy who skippered the Paremata representative in the recent Cornwell Cup contest. Idono led most of the.way, but Peggy pulled up in the final stages, and won by a substantial margin. The square bilge provincial championship was again won by Arthur Young’s Putorlno, which also took the open fourteen-foot championship from Indolence. The final of a series of three races to decide possession of the Qulrke Memorial Plaque was held yesterday, the trophy going to the Takapuna boat, 0. K. Baby, which secured a total of 42 points. The Idle Along class regatta championship was won by the original Idle Along, while the diminutive Blaek Cat won the Tauranga class championship. The only championship event yet to be decided is the Josephine Bradey Inter-club Cup, for which three races are held. Two races have already been sailed, one going to Lavina, and the other to Phantom, both Port Nicholson boats. Seven races are set down for to-day’s final programme. The regatta has been ably conducted by an energetic band of offlicials, and each event is dispatched up to scheduled time, there being no delay at all. Light refreshments are available at all times to ' competitors and others, through f > unremitting efforts of lady friends of the club. All races are started by the Mark Foy system, which means that the first boat to cross the finishing line is the winner, no adjusting of times being necessary. Detailed results of Saturday’s and yesterday’s events tire as follow, handicaps and actual finishing times being given In each case:— RONA-JELLICOE CLASS. (Provincial Championship.)
