NEW OIL BARGE
Arrives Noon To-day Equipped with all the latest appliances, the new oil barge, the Shell, which is to do . service in Wellington harbour, will arrive in the stream at noon to-day. Wireless advice to this effect was received by the Shell Oil Company, Ltd., yesterday from the tanker Ampullaria. The Shell, which embodies al) the most modern features in construction and pumping facilities, has been specially built by the Hong-Kong and Whampoa Dock Company. Hong-Kong, for use as an oil barge at Wellington. She is 135 ft in length overall, 25ft Gin in breadth, and lift Gin in depth She has a carrying capacity of 500 tons, and will carry both fuel oil for oilburning steamers and Diesel oil for motor-ships. The Shell has one big pump driven by a 52 h.p. motor, which is able to pump 300 tons of oil an hour. The new barge will he berthed at the Burnham Wharf. Wellington is at present served by two oil hulks, the Adderly and Rosamund.
