YOUTHS IN TROUBLE
Charged With Theft RAIDING TOUR STORY Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, December 14. Arrested by Constable Bagrie, at rhe Levin railway station while awaiting the Wellington excursion train, two Wellington youths were charged with theft and car conversion, the incidents, it is alleged, having occurred during the week-end.
The youths, it is stated, took a car from Karori at about midnight on Saturday, arriving at Levin at 3.30 a.m. on Sunday morning. While they were there the window of a jeweller’s shop was broken, and wristlet watches removed. It is alleged- that the youths proceeded to Shannon, smashed the window of a tobacconist’s and took several tins of cigarettes. The youths are said to have confessed to Constable Bagrie that on their journey north they ran out of petrol at Makerua, from where they started to walk to Tokomaru. When on their journey, however, a motorist gave them a lift back to Levin, where they were arrested.
