MR. STEWART’S PORTFOLIOS
The Minister of Finance and Customs, Hon. W. Downie Stewart, will sail for Honolulu to-day by the Niagara from Auckland to meet the Canadian Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. H. H. Stevens, with a view to negotiating a trade agreement of mutual benefit to both Dominions. Mr. Stewart will be accompanied by his sister, Miss Stewart, his private secretary, Mr. T. R. A,ickin, and the Comptroller of Customs, Dr. G. Craig.
During Mr. Stewart’s absence from the Dominion bls portfolios of Finance and Customs will be administered by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, and the Minister of Native Affairs, Sir Apirana Ngata, will act as Attorney-General. Mr. Stewart and his party are expected back in Auckland on January 25,
