LEVIN MEMORIAL HOME

Meeting of Committee. Miss Archibald presided at the monthly committee meeting o£ the Levin Memorial Home. Members present were Mesdames Stace, Willoughby, I'oole, Misses Chalmers, Young, and Barry. -The matron reported there were still 31 girls in the home, all in good health and attending school. Two girls obtained their proficiency this year. The children had a most enjoyable party at Marsden School, Fitzherbert Terrace, to and from which they were motored. A Christmas tree was laden with gifts, and the children had a splendid tea. The committee thanked the girls of Marsden School for their kindness in again providing this treat for the children of the home. Thanks were also given to the Juvenile Concert League for inviting 20 girls to a concert which was greatly enjoyed. A letter was received from the Public Trustee, stating that a legacy of £5O had been left to the home by the late Mr. Thomas Bush.

A vote of sympathy with Lady Luke in the death of her husband, Sir John Luke, was passed. Tile following gifts were gratefully acknowledged:—Mr. Elliott, fruit and vegetables; Mr. Yates, meat (weekly); Hawke’s Bay Fisheries, fish (weekly); committee, cakes, buns, etc.; Toe H. League of Women, help with the darning. Donations: Mrs. Litchfield, 10/-; Mrs. Sievwright, 10/-; A Friend, £1; Mrs? McDougal, 10/-.

Miss Valerie Corliss, Wellington, recently visited Marton, where she judged the music cups at Nga Tawa Schools.
