FRIENDS’ SCHOOL
End of College Year Ceremony The annual. “break-up” of the Friends’ School, Wanganui, is always a pleasant social function, and this year it was even more so than usual. The ceremony was held out of doors, and the day was fine. Many parents and friends were present and thoroughly enjoyed the two little plays. “The Intruder” was excellently presented by the lower school, and “The Princess "and the Woodcutter” by the upper- School. Miss Z. Donnelly was responsible for the dressing and Miss B. Masters for the score of the songs in the latter play. Miss C. M. Cruickshank, M.A.> principal of the Wanganui Giris’ College, presented to several of those leaving the school prizes awarded for special merit. The winners were Jean McLeai), Joyce Turner, Maurice Meads, Wilson Turner, and John Cam\pion. Miss Crulckshank spoke on the fine tone of the school and the frankness and courtesy of the pupils. What was needed in these days of change, she said, was simple human friendship. The school was turning out people rather than pupils, people who could tackle life as. it came. ! Afternoon tea and an exhibition of folk dancing concluded the afternoon.
