TWO RIDERS HURT
Speedway Crashes at Kilbirnie TAKEN TO HOSPITAL Crashes during the course of the dirttrack racing at Kilbirnie Stadium on Saturday night resulted in two riders, G. Trilford and F. Spencer, being removed to hospital by the Free Ambulance. Trilford, who is a labourer, residing at 159 Coutts Street, was riding in a heat of the grand open handicap, when he started to wobble violently coming up the straight. He failed to correct this wobble, shot off the track on to the grass; and crashed into the post. He knocked over an official, who was unhurt, but Trilford is suffering from a broken collar-bone, face abrasions, and shock. The other man, Spencer, vho is a plumber by trade, was taking part in the Douglas Handicap. The other two riders had retired, and Spencer was finishing the race alone when, within a dozen yards of the finish, he hit a bump which threw him against the fence. He then slewed violently all over the track, then crashed badly. He is suffering from severe head injuries and shock.
