MEDAL MATCH AT WAIWETU

Though the prolonged spell of dry weather has parched cqurses considerably, and caretakers would welcome a good downpour of rain, most of the city and suburban clubs are keeping their summer programmes going, and the links are itt surprisingly good order, if the greens are a trifle merry. A stroke competition played on the Waiwetu links over the week-end was won by D. S- Mullan (12), with a card reading 82—12—70. Other cards returned were: Mrs. G. Hatfield (28), 72: J. B. Wallace, (3), 74; G. Hatfield (20), 74; E. G. Browne (15). '75; C. McPhail (20), 76; H. Firth (20), 76; A. Stuunell (17), 76. TITAHI BAY CLUB A bogey competition was played on the Titahi links over the week-end, and was won by Spiller, who, off the 20 mark, finished all square. A. Moore (10) came next, with 1 down, and A. Lulham (IS) finished 2 down. , A stroke competition Was won by Cr.ughley, whose card read. 85 —19—66. Others close up were Boon, senr., who'did a solid round of 78, which, with his handicap of 10. gave him a net 68; and Dr. Aitken, with 83 —14—69. SHANDON CLUB A bogey competition, in conjunction with the eclectic and “ringer” competitions, was played on the Shandon links on Saturday The best card was returned by W.. R. Stuckey, who,' with a handicap of 8, finished 1 up. The next best performers were: P. Couchman (18); all square; A. T. Hawken-(14). and R. T. Poole (7), 1 down; C. L. Bishop (8),-E. McCarroll (11), L. J. Cornwall (12), J. S. Hunter (5), and H. N. Frazer (12), 2 down. ' /
