EXTRA EXPENDITURE
Result of Relief Works ASHBURTON PROTESTS By Telegraph—Press Association. Ashburton, September 4. The Ashburton - County Council has decided to send a protest to the Unemployment Board against having to provide the cost of transporting men to relief works and purchasing tools. Since April 1 the council has expended £J77 in connection with relief works, including transport £272, tools £3ll, and accident insurance £lO3. One member characterised this as being an extra tax. 1 ■
