ISLAND BAY ELECTORS
Visit of Civic League Members Realising that personal contact with the affiliated suburban associations is extremely helpful to all concerned, members of the Wellington Civic League executive recently visited, by invitation, the Island Bay Municipal Electors’ Association, and were welcomed by the president, Mr. C. F. Lethaby, and the executive of the local association. Addresses were.given by Messrs. J. TI. Whittaker, president, A. C. Blake, F. IV. Moore, E. R. Render, and 11. R. Searle, in which the history of the league was detailed from its inception, its constitution and main Objects explained, and the democratic nature of its policy propounded. A discussion ensued on matters of general civic importance, and -was productive of suggestions which will be discussed at the next meeting of the league. The island Bay association was among the first of the suburban organisations to affiliate when the Civic League was established, and has always been one of the most active bodies under its constitution. . These facts were emphasised at a meeting of its executive, held after the league representatives had retired, when it was decided to maintain the present connec-tion’-with the league.
