Robbery at Dunedin ONLY £l5O WORTH FOUND By Telegraph—Press Association. i Dunedin, August'29. For breaking and'entering and . theft by day, William Newton was sentenced to six months’ hard labour at the Dunedin session of the Supreme Court today! Newton’s sentence is in connection with the sensational robbery of £3OOO worth of jewellery from a city shop in respect of which another man is already serving a sentence of three years. ; In this case his Honour had previously granted the unusual request of the prisoner that he be allowed to assist the police to recover the jewellery. The Crown intimated that only £l5O worth had been recovered. i Two Years’ Borstal.
For the theft of postal packets as a postal officer, William Corlett, aged 19, was sentenced to two years in a Borstal.
