CONTINUED SUCCESS
Crowds at Winter Show SOME FINE EXHIBITS Judging by the crowds in the big building all day, particularly in the afternoon and evening, the popularity of the eighth annual Winter Show was well maintained on Saturday. The exhibits Or widely different types are attracting a great deal of attention, and it Is generally acknowledged that the industrial exhibits, in which actual manufacturing processes are demonstrated or machines shown at work, are of a higher standard than has been reached in any previous year. For that reason alone, and apart from the various amusements and other attractions, the show is extraordinarily interesting. In connection with the competitive exhibits, no further sections were judged on Saturday, although it is expected that additional judging will take., place today, On Friday and Saturday next the dog show, which promises to create a good deal of interest, will be held. A'large number of sideshows and games cater for the amusement of visitors, ami the section of the building in which they are gathered together is always well crowded. Several other enterprises succeed well in supplying vicarious thrills to those who.require them. A . feature Of the show on Saturday evening was the entertainment provided free of charge in the big stadium, where several thousand people soon .collected. Chun Yuen Tai. n Chinese magician, presented n series of novel Chinese conjuring effects, with strange silks and other weird paraphernalia. His remarkable double-handed sketching was a feature of the act. The Alton Sisters gave a dainty and clever exhibition on the tightrope, and Miss Zoe Lane, assisted by a company of girl dancers, presented a few very clever ballets. Miss Peggy Michel created plenty of thrills with her sensational trapeze work, finishing her act with a neck spin in mid-air on a single rope. Another entertainment will be provided for visitors this evening.
