HUTT COUNTY LOANS

] Position of Public Debt A summary of the public debt of the Hutt County Council shown inf the printed balance-sheet for the year ending March 31, 1931, shows the net amount owing £79,115/15/6. The amount owing on inscribed loan was given as £1697/5/2; owing to State Advances, £15,035; State Life Insurance, £45,000; Public Trustee, £15,975; Bank of New Zealand, £8000; making a total of £85,707/5/2. There has to be deducted from this £3878/13/3 which has been repaid, and £2712/16/5, the amount of the sinking fund, making a total of £6591/9/8. The full statement shows that the amount of £1697/5/2 raised for the Day’s Bay Road by two loans is still owing. Of a loan of £3OO for the Orongorongo road, there is outstanding £l9O/2/9. There was raised on the Upper HuttPahautanui road £1350. Of this £BB6 14/6 is outstanding. A sum of £695 was raised for the Raumati roads, and £456 10/- is outstanding. For the Akatarawa bridge, £825 was raised, the amount outstanding being £616 9/2. There is £417/10/2. outstanding on the Wainui bridge loan of. £550. In 1910, £4BOO was raised for the Hutt Road construction, and there is £1046 8/2 accrued in the sinking fund.. In connection with the Paekakariki water supply five loans totalling £5500 were raised, and the amount outstanding is £4822/9/7. There is an antecedent liability of £BOOO, less £B5l/2/- accrued to the sinking fund. The sum of £490 was raised for the Day's Bay drainage, and there is £438 11/1 outstanding. Two loans totalling £1325 were raised for the Pakuratahi and Stokes Valley bridges, the total amount outstanding'on March 31, 1931, being £ll9l/5/9. Four Joans amounting to £3OOO were raised for workers’ dwellings, £2773/11/9 of the principal being outstanding. For main highways construction £48,525 was raised. The principal outstanding amounts to £46,841/3/10. Of the £lOOO raised for Pukerua roads, £6B/2/6 has been repaid. For the £l2OO Plimmerton pavilion loan, £54/6/9 has accrued to the sinking fund. A Wainui Hill road unemployment relief loan of £soo'was raised in 1927, and £197/8/6 has accrued to the sinking fund. For the Hutt River bridge loan of £lOOO there is £47/7/6 in the sinking fund. A total of £4550 was raised for the Paraparaumu water supply, and £228 /4/10 has accrued to the sinking fund. A loan of £7OO was raised for the Heretaunga water supply, and there is £66 7/10 in the sinking fund in connection’ with it.

In connection with the Epuni hamlet water supply loan of £l7OO, there is £lO6/11/2 in the sinking fund.
