Statistics of Area Some idea of the area within the jurisdiction of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board may be gained from statistics gathered by the engineer and general manager, Mr. E. F. Hollands. The returns for the local bodies within the board’s area arc as at March 31, 1931. For purposes of comparison the figures for the year ending March 31, 1930, are given in parentheses. The number of ratepayers in the whole area is 12,914 (12,832) ; the population, 43,570 (42,550) : capital value, £14,376.028 (£13.738.435) ; unimproved value, £5.034.575 (£5,560,319) ; public debt, £784,282/17/- (£827,123/0/9). The returns for tho separate local bodies are as follow:—
