MISSIONARY CONFERENCE

Presbyterian Women’s Union >1 Mr. Macdonald gave an address on “The Unrecognised Spirit” at the conference of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, which was continued in Wellington yesterday. After the reading of the minutes various reports were heard. ; The international secretary’s report was moved by Mrs. Inglis. She read letters from correspondents in Australia, Canada and Ireland. The mission study and prayer circle report was discussed and it was felt that more mission study circles might be started in the different branches. The Maori Mission and Home Mission reports were adopted. Appreciation was expresed of the fine ( work done by the editress of the “Har- ’ vest Field” and the business manager. Unfortunately the business manager had resigned and her resignation was received with regret. Mrs. A. S. Doig was appointed to the position. The annual, meeting was held in St. John’s Church, the moderator of assembly, Professor Collie, presiding. It was opened with a hymn, Scripture reading and prayer. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The report showed that there were 344 branches with a total membership of 8102. The amount of money raised during the year was £10,033/14/9. Most inspiring addresses were given by Nurge Elliot and. Mrs, Davies.
