MID-AIR COLLISIONS

Four Army Pilots Saved DROP WITH PARACHUTES London, May 6. Two Royal Air Force Siskin fighters collided at Headon, Aidershot, and the engine of one became detached and hurtled to earth. Both pilots parachuted safely, lit cigarettes, and congratulated each other on their escapes, and inspected the wrecked machines, of which one was blazing. Simultaneously with the aerial collision at Aidershot a second smash occurred at Banbury. Two Bristol Bulldogs, flying at an altitude of 13,500 feet, crashed and were completely destroyed. The pilots parachuted to safety, suffering only strains and bruises.

So far parachutes have saved the lives of sixty-six Air Force men in five years.
