RAILWAY CHANGES

Mr. E. Casey Promoted

Auckland, May 7.

Mr. E. Casey, who has been Divisional Superintendent for the North Island Railways and stationed in Auckland for the last five years, has been appointed Assistant-Chief Engineer of Railways, with headquarters in Welling ton, vice Mr. W. R. Davidson, who will retire from that position at the end of this month. Mr. Casey will take up his new duties next Wednesday.

Joining the engineering staff of the Railway Department as a cadet in 1902, Mr. Casey subsequently served in Wanganui, Auckland, Greymouth, and Ohakune districts. In 1912 Mr. Casey became assistant engineer, Auckland district, and in 1916 he took charge of the grade easement works between Penrose and Mercer. In 1921 he was transferred to the Christchurch district, and was engaged in remodelling the station yards on the Midland line prior to the opening of the Otlra tunnel. In March, 1925, he was appointed inspecting engineer at Wellington, and later he was transferred fo Auckland. DUNEDIN RETIREMENT , Dominion Special Service. Dunedin. May 7. Mr. U. R. Sword.
