HEAVY EXPENDITURE
River Board Finance That the Hutt River Board members Intend keeping a close eye 'on expenditure f r this year was made plain at last night's meeting, when the question of the donation to the Wellington Free Ambulance was under discussion. Last year’s amount of £3/3/- was only repeated, because the cause was a deserving one.
“I am afraid,” said Mr. J. Mitchell, “that we will have some heavy expenditure to face this j/eax.” "I think we ought to economise as much as we can,” said Mr. Chapman. “Still, It is a deserving case,” he added as he acquiesced with the chairman’s (Mr. F. Hewer) suggestion to contribute the same as last year. ' Mr. Chapman had moved, and Mr. Mitchell seconded, a resolution that the donation be £2/2/-.
