DROPPED DEAD IN STREET

After crossing the street and stepping on tiic footpath in front of the Commercial Hotel at mid-day, a middle-aged Maori named Poi Hakana Jackson dropped dead. Medical aid was summoned, but life was extinct. - ■The deceased was a prominent member of the Mnhuta tribe and was popular among both Natives and pakehas. Jackson, who leaves three sons, was a successful farmer in the laraueta district.
