PIPE WEEK
Displays in Wellington
Special window displays of pipes are being featured in Wellington shops in connection with “Pipe Week,” inaugurated on Monday. Even the connoisseur of pipes will find some novelty among the selections. Some extraordinary and interesting shapes will be found among the displays, and no doubt many will yield to the appeal and select fresh smoking equipment. Many of these exhibition pipes bear names which assure the best of smoking. There' are others for a shilling or two which are worth turning over if one knows how to identify good wood. For a few shillings one can get pipes which will* turn many pounds of tobacco into ashes before they lose their freshness. The man who takes his pipe very seriously will find something more expensive which will simply mellow with age'. A number of the higher-priced pipes carry very comprehensive guarantees, and burning or cracking of the wood means free replacement.
