SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY

A new feature was Introduced into the biweekly concerts at the Sailors’ Friend Society on Tuesday, when Mr. W. H. Denton gave a sketch of a portion of his walking tour through America. The applause was evidence of the fact that the lecture met with the popular taste. The performers were: The Misses W ebb, Harris, and Shlrely, Turtle, and Messrs. John and Johnson. Miss Harris was at the piano. Mr. J. Moore spoke on “Only One in relation to temperance. Pledges were taken. Prizes for the competitions came from Mrs. Lloyd, Karorl, and went to the Tamaroa, Hertford, and Port Nicholson.
