EMPIRE AIR MAIL
Plans for Future
11 DAYS TO AUSTRALIA
Details of the services between England and Australia which Imperial Airways proposes to inaugurate, if the patronage accorded the trial flights is satisfactory, are contained in a special letter sent by Mr. G. E. Ward Humphrey, managing director of Imperial Airways, to “The Dominion” by the airliner City of Cairo. “It is our earnest hope that in the not too far distant future.this may develop into a regular weekly air mail service between Australia and India which would form part of the Empire route, linking up with our passenger and mail service from India to England, and connecting in Egypt with our other main trunk route through Africa," he wrote. “With the establishment of the regular service, the journey between'Melbourne and London would be accomplished in eleven to twelve days. ~ , “There is no greater factor making for understanding and development of trade than quick communication, and there has never been greater need than there is today for the speedy communication provided by air to bring together the business communities and peoples of the Empire and to strengthen and maintain its position among other nations of the world.”
