LAING-MEASON MEMORIAL

Some time ago the Hutt Kiver Board opened a list for subscriptions toward erecting a memorial stone for the late Mr. George Laing-Meason. the engineer who originated the river protection scheme whieh Is still being carried out by the Hutt lilver Board. The sum required for the memorial stone was said to be £5O. The response has been disappointingly slow, the amount collected being, according to Mr. A. J. Gearing, clerk to the River Board, only £3O. There Is. therefore, required another £ll before the memorial can be erected.

It Is the intention of the board to erect the stone at the Lower Hutt approach of the old traflic Abridge.
