Opening on July 20 The open season for the taking or killing <ff opossums throughout various acclimatisation districts, including Wellington. Wanganui. Hawera and Stratford. will commence on July 20 and close on September 1, according to n notice in the current issue of the’Gazette. Opossums may be taken in the specified areas except in any sanctuary other than a scenic reserve. Postmasters at the following places in the Wellington district are appointed to issue licenses at a cost of £2/10/each: Wellington. Petone, Lower Hutt. Upper Hutt, Featherston. Greytown. Mastertoil, Carterton. Martinborough. Eketahuna, Pahiatua, Paekakariki, Waikanae. Paraparaumu, Otaki, Levin. Shannon, Palmerston North, Bulls, Marton, Turakina, Hunterville, Mangaweka and Taihape.
