The autumn meeting of the Nelson Trotting Club is being held to-day. The card is as follows:— PIONEER HANDICAP (harness), of 70 sovs.; 3.45 class. One mile and a halt. Silver Bird ... scr Nell Bingen ... scr Mureliiiues ... scr Toreador .... scr Eastern Queen scr Teri Kingi .. 60 In Hie Pioneer Handicap. Toreador, Murchimes, and Teri Kingi maj’ receive most . support. The first-named went 2.56 4-5 for ten furlongs at Kaikoura, and may be made favourite. Teri King! went 3.29 2-<» at Manawntu, and is now on 3.40. so he is not out of it, though he is asked to concede GO yards. WAKEFIELD HANDICAP (harness), of 80 sovs.: 3.4 class. One mile and a quarter. Lemora .... ser Kodie 12 Nell Bingen .. ser Alpine Melody 12 Hone Heke ... scr Hakari 12 Author Chimes ser Waipuki .... 21 Chancellor Wilkes scr Lemora, Hone Heke, and Hakari may lie in most demand in lhe Wakefield Handicap. The first-named ran second at Cheviot, registering 2.54 1-5. _ Hone Hoke was second over a mile at Westland, run in 2.23. Hakari has been racing well, and he won at Westland in 2.56 1-5. Lemora and Hakari read best on the handicap. BRIGHTWATER HANDICAP (harness), of 75 sovs.; for unhoppled trotters; 3.0 l class. One mile and a half. Silver Bird .... scr Effigy Clive Casey ... ser Billy Bingen .. >iHardy Moor ..scr Wah .......... -b Locauda Rose . 36 Nelson Parrish 13Wlkltoria ... 48 Locauda Rose. Wikitoria, and Nelson Parrish appear to be a likely trio in tlie Brightwater Handicap. Locauda Rose won at Kaikoura in 3.42. Wikitoria was second at Manawatu, and third at Taranaki, his best time being 3.45 2-5. Nelson Parrish is a class above the others, and at Wellington ran third over thirteen furlongs in 3.55 1-5, whereas he is now on 3.40 for twelve furlongs. Effigj’ and Wah both have speed, but are not too reliable. NELSON TROTTING CLUB HANDICAP (harness), of 150 sovs.; 4.48 class. Ivo miles. Royal Drusus . scr Lightwood .... 12 Mountain Orc . scr Glenlake .... 1Nelsonlan .... scr Dau Roco -4 Lifebuoy *l2 Jewel Elect .... 48 The Nelson Trotting Cup will no doubt find Mountain Ore a good favourite, for at Cheviot he ran second to Compromise, and registered 4.36 1-5 from a 4.48 mark. Nelsonian can see out the distance, and has a record of 4.46 2-5. Lightwood won at Reefton in 4.46. Of the remainder, Jewel Elect, who is racing most consistently, may do best. He has a record of 4.3 S 3-5 at two miles. MURCHISON HANDICAP (harness), of 80 sovs.; 3.42 class. One mile and a half. Murchimes ... scr Bessie Dillon .. 36 Lemora scr Lifebuoy .... CO Alpine Melody 12 Form earlier in the daj- will probablj" affect' the handicap in the Murchison Handicap, but on the present scale Lemora and Alpine Melody may be accorded most support. CORRIGAN CUP HANDICAP (harness), of 80 sovs.; 3.3 class. One mile and a quarter. Eastern Queen scr Author Chimes scr Chancellor 1" Wilkes scr Drift Wave ... 1Toreador .... scr Waipuki .... 1Terl Kingi .. scr Travis ob In the Corrigan Cup Teri Kingi, Nelson Parrish, and Drift Wave rend best to me. The latter is a very smart beginner, and should be a difficult horse to beat, especially If Teri Kingi is penalised as a result of the decision in the first race. FOXHILL HANDICAP (harness), of 85 sovs.; for unhoppled trotters; 5.8 class. Two miles. Sliver Bird .... scr Effigy,,, Hardy Moor . scr Billy Bingen .. 84 Locanda Rose . 24 Todd Bingen .. 10S Wikitoria .... 36 Wah 1-0 The distance of the Foxliill Handicap will give the back markers a better chance, and maybe they will fight out the finish with Locanda Rose. Todd Bingen is racing very conslsently, and he won at Taranaki in 4.58 4-5. Wah, however, was successful at Methven in 4.48 2-5, and he will probably win if he keeps an even gait. DASH HANDICAP (harness), of 90 sovs.; 2.23 class. One mile. I-lakari scr Mountain Ore . 12 Waipuki scr Dan Roco .... 24 Lightwood .... 12 Glenlake -4 Nelsonian .... 12 Jewel Elect .. 48 Lifebuoy 12 In the Dash Handicap Lightwood, Mountain Ore, and Glenlake should give a good account of themselves. The former ran second at Westport over eight furlongs and a half in 2.26 3-u, and Is now on 2.22 for the shorter distance. Glenlake won at a mile at Kaikoura, registering 2.16 2-5. He may cause most trouble to Lightwood.
