MRS. TROUP HONOURED

Guest of Pioneer Club Mrs. G. A. Troup, the Mayoress, was the guest of honour at the Pioneer Club yesterday afternoon, when a large number of members was present to.mcet her. Mrs. Troup, who was accompanied by her daughters, was received by the president, Miss Amy Kane, and presented with a bouquet of roses and violets, Miss Kane, on behalf of the club, expressed the regret all felt _ that Mrs. Troup would no longer be with them as Mayoress. She had been a good friend to the'Pioneer Chib, the members of which Had supported her in any call she had made as Mayoress. The club was a social one in the widest sense of that term, and all members desired to assist in anything for the good of the community of which they were a part. Mrs. Troup thanked the members tot their kindness, and said that she had al-p-ays felt she could rely on the help of the club in any emergency. She made special

reference to the work done by the club for the relief of earthquake sufferers, bhe would be sorry not to be among them again as Mayoress, but hoped to be there often in a private capacity. Songs were given by Miss Flo Penney, Miss M. Chamberlain, and Mrs. A. S. Mitchell, and afternoon tea was, served bv the house committee.
