Meeting; of Women’s Auxiliary The annual meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Wellington Free Ambulance was held yesterday afternoon in the Chamber of Commerce room. Mrs. U. J. B. Norwood presided over a large attendance, including, Mr. JI. 31. Jones, secretary of the Free 1 Ambulance Board, and .Mr. F. Roffe, superintendent. Aiwlogics were received from Mrs. A. J. Mazeugarb, Mr. D. G. McGowan and Mr. Norwood. ~ The annual report stated that on May 7 a most successful bridge party and dance had been held at Mrs. B. Sutherland’s residence, Karori, when £55/14/3 had been raised. , ' The ladies’ Auxiliary had assisted the Fire Brigade with its "joy night” by running a refreshment stall. Assistance had also been given to the combined bands in collecting on their street day. As a result of the garden party, held at Mrs. Sutherland's home in February, £154/10/had been taken, £l5O of which had been contributed to the Mayor’s Earthquake Relief Fund. Troup and Mrs. Macarthy Reid; secretary, Mrs. E, P. Norman (re-elected); treasurer, Airs. McGowan; committee, Mrs. Bateson, Mrs. Carter, Mrs. Dixon. Mrs. J. I. Goldsmith, Mrs. 11, M. Jones, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Mazcngarb, Mrs. A. A. Moore, Mrs. J. Jlunt, Mrs. C. Mack, Mrs. McVicar, Mrs. F. Roffc, Mrs. Searle, Mrs. Sanderson, Mrs. B. Sutherland, .Mrs. T. Watkins. Mrs. Stone (re-elected), and Mrs. Mandcr. Mr. Jones, on behalf pf the Free Ambulance Board, expressed thanks and gratitude for what, the ladies’ committee wn'r doing for the Wellington Free Ambulance. He also’ congratulated it on its financial position, and expressed the gratitude of the board to Mr. and Mrs. B. Sutherland, of Karori, who hud been instrumental in the raising of nearly £2OO for the Free Ambulance. As a result of the art union, said Mr. Jones, the ambulance hud £14.200 in casa, and with £5OOO formerly set aside for building purposes, was only waiting for tenure of the ground, before the new building could be erected. He wished to thank the Wellington public, local bodies. tho St. John Ambulance, private firms and individuals for help given. Mr. Jones nlso paid a tribute to the staff, whom he said we'r c rendering wonderful service. In concluding, he wished the ladies’ auxiliary success mid hajipiness in their future efforts.-' • Mr. F. Roffc. superintendent, also thanked the ladies’ auxiliary. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to Mrs. Troup for the loan of the Mayoress's room for meetings, and to the Chamber of Commerce.
