DISMISSAL NOTICE
Married Woman Teacher WITHDRAWN BY BOARD By Telegraph—Press Association, Nelson, March 17. In February a notice of the. termination of her engagement was given to a country school female teacher who hud recently married the teacher of an adjoining school. The Education Board has now been notified by the Educational In stitute, acting on behalf of the teacher, that it intends to take legal action. Mr. F. W. O. Smith, a member of the board, said a number of teachers were idle, and it should be the privilege of married female teachers to give way to young teachers. ’ Mr. J. 11. Harkness said the board had no power to dismiss a female teacher because she married. . The Hon. Mr. Mclntyre said the board had accomplished something by drawing attention to the matter and bringing things a step nearer the desired end. He realised the institute would win on legal decided to rescind the dismissal resolution. ___________
