HUTT GOLF CLUB

There were about thirty members present last night for the annual meeting of the Hutt Golf Club. Colonel R. O. Chesney presided. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that despite some inconvenience resulting from the alterations to the course, a full programme of matches was completed. The course had been considerably Improved. The Winter Cup tournament was won for the second time by Mr. R. Wagg. The balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed a credit balance. The following were elected the officers for the ensuing year:—Club captain, Mr. A. G. Bush; hon. treasurer, Mr. G. F. Judd; hon. secretary, Mr. R. S. Johnstone; hon. auditors, Messrs. H. C. Rose and S. M Hobbs; committee. Colonel R. O. Chesney, Messrs. S. A. Wiren, W. G. Fisher, R. Wagg. A lengthy discussion ensued on the apportioning of certain of the holes on the course. At present the first nine holes are seven hundred yards shorter than the second nine holes. In the first nine are all the drive and iron and drive and mashie holes, while in the second half, eight of the nine holes are two full wooden shots. The proposal is to move two of the wooden holes in the second half into the first nine by playing them as eight and nine, and to put two of the first nine holes into the second, and so make a difference of only fifty yards in the lengths of the two halves. It was decided to leave the matter In the hands of the Incoming committee with power to act.
