MISSING YACHTSMAN
Geologist and Tramper Mr. S. Silvester, who was one of the two men on the yacht which set out from New Plymouth for the South Island, the wreckage of which was discovered on the coast near Cable Bay on Thursday, was a somewhat striking figure at Canterbury College through adhering to th® very old fashion —for a young man —of wearing a full beard. He took an engineering course at the .college, but did not complete his. degree, turning instead to geology, in which subject he completed his B.Sc. For some time at the college he lectured on geology. Mr. Silvester was a great walker and had tramped over most of Canterbury and Westland. sometimes carrying heavy packs over the passes during the college vacation.
