RIVER BOARD RATING
Allocation of Rates RESUMPTION OF APPEAL Faimerston North, March 13. The appeal of ratepayers of the Mana-watu-Oroua River Board’s rating area against the rating classification made in connection with the board’s .proposed scheme of flood control, was resumed again to-day, after two adjournments for the purpose of collating additional information. Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M., presided, and associated wftE him as assessors were Messrs D. O. Williams, of Massey Agricultural College, and H. E. Leighton, of Wellington. Mr. P. Baldwin, who appeared for the River Board, called the board’s engineer, Mr. F. C. Hay, who gave evidence on the nature of the works proposed, and the basis of the classification. The evidence was lengthy, and Mr. Hay was subject to much questioning by the legal representatives of the appealing ratepayers.
