DRASTIC DECREE
Brazil Bans Imports Of Machinery U.S.A. WILL SUFFER By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Rio de Janeiro, March 11. A decree was signed on Wednesday by President Vargas, prohibiting for three years the importation of machinery for manufacturing purposes, because conditions of over-production are believed by the Government to exist in the textile and allied Industries. X The decree demands that an inventory of all machinery in Brazil be completed within sixty days. According to a Washington message, the Brazilian embargo is described by United States Commerce Department officials as most drastic on the part of a South American country recently in the market Brazil has been regarded as one of the most important outlets for such products.
