ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS
I Mile and Three Mile Events
The mile race at the New Zealand amateur athletic championships in Dunedin on February 27 and 28 will be held on the first day, and the half-mile and the three mile races will be held on the second day. These rearrangements were made at last evening’s meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, when a letter from the Dunedin Centre suggested that if the -mile and three mile races were held on the same day, there would be a likelihood of such prominent runners as R. A. Rose, Wanganui, and J. Savidan, Auckland, not competing in one of the events. It was also painted out that R. Kiser, one of the American athletes, preferred to ■ run in the haltmile race on the second day. ' The executive changed the places of tin mile and half-mile events, with the result that the long distance events will M run on separate days.
