Shannon, February 2.
Mesdames Snelling. Braun, Mason, Picard anil Bovis will represent the Shannon Croquet Club in an inter-club match on the Manawatu green next Thursday. The Shannon unemployment committee is still actively employed in finding work for local men; £450 has been received from the Unemployment Board to date. This sum gave relief to 113 men. A further allocation has been applied for. The latest census of unemployed for Shannon and Tokomaru is 135. Mr. D. McLaggan. who recently cut his foot with a slasher, is making satisfactory progress. Constable Blaikle, wit'll Mrs. Blaikie and family, who have been on a three week's vacation, returned from Auckland on Friday. Mrs. McLachlan, of Woodville, was a visitor to Shannon during the week-end. She-was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. Hewitt. . . , , Mrs. H. Woodmass, who. has been in indifferent health for some time, is now undergoing treatment at Sumner.
