CRICKET DISPUTE

Selectors Should Resign

OPINIONS OF PLAYERS

Brisbane, January 27.

Discussing the Queensland cricket dispute, O’Connor, former captain of the Valley Club, said: “Why do not the selectors resign? That is the settlement.” The secretary of the Valley Club stated that if there were no settlement before Saturday, the Valley players, if selected, will refuse to play against Victoria. He also said that the country players would stand behind the metropolitan players in supporting the suspended men.

The dispute is the outcome of the Queensland selectors’ system of picking teams by telegraph. Recently a number of the players rebelled while on tour in New South Wales. A firm stand was taken by the controlling body, and the offenders have been suspended.
