Aeroplane Dives to Earth

ABRUPT END TO FLIGHT (Rec. January 26, 5.5 p.m.) London, January 25. Mr. R. B. Waters, proprietor of, the Garwick aerodrome, while flying this afternoon was horrified to see an Avro 504 K which he had been watching for a quarter of an hour suddenly dive to earth out of control, killing the occupants, who were three of his employees—all skilled pilots. The victims were:

William James Martin, of Penshirst; Sidney James Weathered, of Bromley, and L. H. Irving-Bell, of Tonbridge. They had gone up on a reconnoitring flight. The aeroplane was shattered.
