Ministerial. The Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister, who has been spending a few days at his home at Cheviot, following his return from the Imperial Conference, will return to Wellington to-morrow morning. Cabinet will meet later that day, and it is likely that frequent meetings will be held from then on.

The Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGeneral, who left for Auckland by the Limited express last night, will return to Wellington to-morrow morning. The Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, is in Auckland. He is expected to return to Wellington to-day or tomorrow.

The Hon. J. Q. Cobbe, Minister of Defence, returned to Wellington yesterday after paying a short visit to the soldier settlement in the vicinity of Tailiape. He is to open the national conference of the Institute of Horticulture in Wellington to-day. The Hon. A. J. Murdoch, Minister of Agriculture, left for Dunedin last evening. He will officially open the Dominion Fertiliser Works there to-morrow. On Thursday he will visit Lawrence and Gabriel’s Gully areas in connection with gold-mining questions. He will return to Wellington on Saturday morning.

Mr. R. Jamieson, of Dunedin, and Mr. W. Goodfellow, of Auckland, are at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr'. Robert Parker left for Christchurch hist evening to attend the musicians’ conference and a meeting of the Musicians’ Registration Board. Mr. Ernest Shepherd, of Oxford, arrived by the Monowai on Sunday on a visit to his brother, Mr. H. A. Shepherd, of Hataitai. Mr. Lawrence Innes, director of construction of the Sydney harbour bridge, and Mrs. Innes are at present in Wellington. They are accompanied by Mr. T. C. Gormley, and will return to Australia by the Manama on Friday. Mr. G. A. Dawson, of the Union Assurance Society, Ltd., has been appointed manager of the society’s Christchurch branch and will leave Wellington to take up the new appointment next week.

Mr. W. A. Oubridge. of Eusrlnnd. Mr. H. Hudson, Mr. J. Red pa th., Christchurch ; Mr. O. Ludendorff, Sydney; Dr. W. Simmonds, Connecticut, U.S.A.; and Mr. D. R. Davies, of Perth, are at the Hotel St. George. Mr. Hugh Hamilton, director of the Vacuum Oil Company Pty., Ltd., Melbourne, accompanied by Mrs. Hamilton, is on the R.M.S. Monowai en route to San Francisco. They expect to be away seven months and will return via South Africa.

Mr. A. J. Parker, a retired engineer of Stanley Bay, has been appointed the Government representative on the Auckland Harbour Board. He will succeed Mr. E. Aldridge, who has resigned from the position. Mr. Parker was in business in Auckland for 18 years as head of the engineering firm of A. J. Parker and Co., and has been a director of several companies. For the past 24 years he has been a resident of Stanley Bay. Mr. E. Wilkinson. Mr. E. B. Fraser, Mr. A. S. Quirk, of Auckland; Mr| E. H, Whiting, Blenheim; Mr. K. It. Merritt, Napier; Mr. G. S. Millar, Mr. T. C. List, Mr. J. R. Cruickshafik, New Plymouth; Mr. W. B. Eastone, Pongaroa; and Mr. G. M. Huggins, of Dannevirke, are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. J. K. Lowe, Auckland district engineer, who is retiring on superannuation at the end of this month, was met by a large and representative gathering of railwaymen last week and presented with an inscribed wallet and contents. Mr. E. Casey, divisional superintendent, presided, and among those present were Mr. H. 11. Sterling, general manager of railways, who made the presentation, and Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the Hospital Board. Mr. Lowe has been in the department for over 40 years, and for the past seven years he has been the Auckland district engineer
