Johns beats H. Leckie
LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Auckland, January 26. . The professional lightweight boxing championship of New Zealand changed hands to-night when Harry Johns, of Auckland (9st. s}lb.). defeated the holder, Hector Leckie, of Otago, on points at the end of the full fifteen rounds. Johns gave /the more scientific display, leading easily over the first few rounds. Leckie asserted himself during the middle _ stages, but the Aucklander came again in the last three rounds to score a popular victory. This was Johns’s debut as a professional.
