SYDNEY SERVICE

Summer Time-table REGULAR SAILINGS With the departures to-morrow of the Maunganui ifrom Wellington and the Ulimaroa from Auckland, the new mer time-table iu the New Zealand-Syd-ney passenger service will come into operation. . | The new time-table has been settled upon as giving more regular sailings between Auckland and Sydney and Wellington and Sydney, and differs from that of past years in that the Maunganui and L'limaroa will now run in conjunction. This means that the two vessels will maintain a joint service between Sydney and New Zealand in the weeks when there is no Vancouver or San Francisco mail steamers arriving at or departing from New Zealand. On the old running, for example, the Manama and Maunganui would leave Sydney on the Friday for Auckland and Wellington respectively, the Makura would have left on the Thursday for "Wellington, while the Niagara would be due at Auckland on the following Monday from Vancouver, and would leave the next day for Sydney, the Manama and Maunganui returning on the Friday. This meant that in that fortnight there would be three steamers arriving in New Zealand from Sydney and three leaving for Sydney. In the following fortnight the Ulimaroa would be the only steamer arriving from and leaving for Sydney. Under the new time-table these sailings will be more evenly distributed. In the fortnight during which a Royal Mau steamer arrives from Sydney and another departs for Sydney, the Manama will be the only regular Sydney steamer. In the odd fortnight the service will be maintained by the Maunganui and Ulimaroa running in conjunction. Thus, instead of six sailings and two Bailings in consecutive fortnights, there will be four sailings each fortnight. The sailings from New Zealand under the new arrangement over the Christmas and New Year period are as follow. — Maunganui (Wellington). December 12. Ulimaroa (Auckland), December 12. Makura (Wellington), December 16. Manama (Wellington), December 19. Maunganui (Auckland), December 24. Ulimaroa (Wellington), December 27. Niagara (Auckland), December 30. Marama (Auckland), January 2. Maunganui (Wellington), January 9. Ulimaroa (Auckland), January 9.
