! By-law and civil cases In the Petone Magistrate’s Court were dealt with by Messrs. T. Potts and A. Coles, J.P’s. For exceeding the speed limit of 25 miles an' hour in the borough, Wilfred Maxey Clary was fined £1 on each of two charges, and James Douglas Aitken, Les Brooks, Philip John Foster, Ralph Holden, Wellwood Holden, Mabel Alice Marshall, George Lennox, Francis Peirson-Webber, andWillitm Joseph Kitchlng were each fined £l. John Gordon Harcourt, Alfred Leon W. ■ Gill, Alexander Butterfield Shaw, Nina Elizabeth Baxter, Alexander James Brldeu, Gohan Narain, Claude Noel McDonald, . George Meredith, and Nell Charles Phara- . zyn were each fined 10/- for similar offences. Warwick Edward Charles Gregory was fined 10/- on each of two charges. Also for exceeding the speed limit, Lionel Bennett Chalklen was convicted and ordered to pay costs. A-fine of £1 was Imposed on Mary Elizabeth Mac Ewan for driving at a greater speed than 15 miles an hour when approaching an intersection. Overtaking vehicles at an intersection cost Joseph William Carr, Henry Herbert Higgins, Albert Walker, and Neville William Allan Newbold £2 each, and Kenneth Olivant " £l.i ( ; Malcolm'Rasmussen for not keeping a ■ vigilant look-out when approaching a railway crossing was fined - £l. ■ Fines of 10/- each were imposed on Norman Charles -Reeves,-- -William-Kenyon,-Walter Joseph Ryan, William James Prout, aiid Edith M._ Davidson for cutting corners Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil cases:—R..R.
