GARDEN TALK

■ Yesterday afternoon the last meeting for the ywr was held of the garden circle of the Pioneer Club, when there was a very large attendance. Mrs. H. Fisher presided, and in her talk to members spoke of food for plants, telling how to keep plants fed during the summer so that they will not dio from lack of nourishment. It being the last meeting of the year members expressed their appreciation of Mrs. Fisher’s help and instruction throughout the year by presenting her with a Christmas gift. The presentation was made by Miss A. Kane, president of the club, who expressed appreciation of what Mrs. Fisher and other leaders of circles do for the club. Mrs. Fisher presented Miss Kane with a bouquet of roses and paid a tribute to the club life under her leadership. She also on behalf of members of the circle presented a gift to Miss E. Isaacs, the secretary. , , , Afternoon tea was served, and it being the birthday of one of the members a birthday cake was included and was duly cut and tasted by all. The meeting broke up after a very happy afternoon. , To-day members will have an opportunity of hearing something of the New Zealand expedition to view the recent eclipse o/~ the sun. as Dr. Adams will give a luncheon talk. Later on Friday week an afternoon tea and sale of Christmas novelties is to be held in the club.
