EXPERT IMPRESSED
Massey College Research
LORD BARNBY’S COMMENT
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Palmerston North, December 8. The extent and thoroughness of the wool research work being carried out at Massey College surprised Lord the noted wool expert, when he visited the college. He prolonged his stay because of his deep interest, and discussed for over three hours with. Professoi Per en and eight members of the wool research staff, details of experiments in hand to improve the New Zealand wools. Lord Barnby told an interviewer that the work carried out was an eye-opener. No praise was too high for it. He bad made very minute investigations into the scientific research activities, and was convinced that the staff was proceeding on right lines. The ultimate result of their investigations should be of considerable benefit, not only to the wool growers but also to the textile manufacturers. The location, surroundings, and general appearance of the college buildings also favourably impressed the visitor, who said it denoted an earnest desire on the part of the Government to foster the highest aims in agriculture. Professor Peren said that the staff had profited considerably by the views expressed by Lord Barnby. who had approached the subject from the manufacturers’ viewpoint.
