CONVENT SCHOOL CONCERT

Kilbirnie Convent School gave a concert in the Town Hall last night which was well attended, the Concert Chamber being filled with parents and friends. All the children took part in different items and gave some very good ones. The infants opened the programme with action songs and recitations, and gave further items later in the evening. The girls of the different classes gave a pretty sash drill item, wearing gaily-coloured frocks and using sashes of'different colours. Later further pupils gave a flower song dressed as different flowers, the stage looking very gay with the i .ass c r colour. A further item by the girls was a song, “No. 22,” while the boys sang “The Traction Engine” and “Jolly Gentleman.” Several playlets were given, “Dame Nature’s Tea Party,” and the pretty fairy play of “Snow White,” “Bad Quarter of an Hour,” was another, with M. Leight, P. Player, J. Heyworth arid P. Edwards in the parts; and “Fauchette,” a scene where the characters are dolls and come to life, the teddy bear being especially lively. The parts were taken by J. Mapledon, B. Reade, M. Edwards, A. Newson, L. McMurrick, P. Smyth, M McNee, A. Calnon. A song and dance, “Irish Eyes,” was given by P. Ashbolt, and a hornpipe danced by P. Smyth and M. Penman. The school chorus sang two items. Mrs. R, W. Collins, played the accompaniments.
