Lady Astor, ALP., upon whom 'was conferred the D.C.L. degree at Birmingham University, said; — “If we could evolve a system of education by which we could teaoh men what women know by instinct, then wo should have peace on earth and goodwill toward men,” she declared. “The world was never in greater need of the best women can do. and I hope that as we go on and get wiser than men we shall not lose our spiritual convictions and spiritual values. Unless we have spiritual courage all our learn-, ing will not help this poor, tired world on at all.” .
