CONCERN FELT
Probationary Teachers TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT Concern was expressed by some members of the Wellington School Committees’ Association last evening at the terms of a recent advertisement notifying, among other things, that applicants for probationary teaching positions becoming vacant next year were required to give an undertaking that they would be prepared to accept service as a teacher in any part of the Dominion. It was considered that this, perhaps, would deter people from entering the profession, thus possibly defeating the department’s own object in securing the best services available, and the meeting decided to point this out to the department, at the same time requesting additional information as to the necessity of such a stipulation.
