SCHOOL TENNIS

Wellington Tournament PLAY AT MIRAMAR Miramar .tennis grounds presented a fine sight on Saturday morning, when several hundred school children attended to take part in the Wellington Public Schools’ Lawn Tennis Association annual tournament. Twenty-six courts were utilised (16 hard and 10 grass). ' The entries, which totalled over 700, were limited to six seniors and two juniors from each school.. The entries were: Boys’ singles, 100; girls singles. 139; boys’ doubles, 50 pairs: girls’doubles,.7l pairs; mixed doubles, 92 pairs. Juniors: Boys’ singles, 13; girls singles, 22; boys’ doubles, 6 pairs; girls doubles, 1-1 pairs. Those who played a big part in the success of the tournament include Misses A. Hilliard (hon. secretary), Kelburn Normal School, and J. Swapp, Hutt Central; and Messrs. Gosnall, South Wellington; T. Mclvor, Petono Central; and B, Kean, Berhampore.. t t ’ ■ .
