OLD PUPILS’ DAY

Hutt High School SPORTS & GAMES RESULTS Over three hundred people, including the chairman of the Board of Governors (Captain W. Olphert) and the principal Mr. H. P. Kidson), attended the Old lupils pay of the Hutt Valley High School on Saturday. Durins the day games and sports events were indulged, the old pupils playing against present pupils. The following are the detailed results:— Cricket. The cricket match was won by the old pupils by 44 runs. The team’s victory was largely due to the excellent bowling of L. Scott (six for 13) and a good score of ol by K. Rix-Trott. Rix-Trott also obtained three wickets at the cost of 21 runs. For the school, Craig was most successful with the ball, taking six wickets. At the same time some very close games were recorded. The best game of the day was probably that between Vera Burns (School) - and Ivy Howe. It was a game marked by long rallies and hard hitting. Out of a possible of 70, the best scorers were Marchant (65), W Taylor (63), Bornholdt (65), and McHolm (62). EVENING FUNCTION That enthusiasm in association affairs is being well maintained was demonstrated in the evening also, when a dance held in the school concluded the day’s programme. Two class rooms, decorated with variegated streamers, were set aside for some fifty couples. Sir. KidsOn, accompanied by Mrs. Kidson, was among those present, as well as many foundation pupils.
