SCHOOL FETE

A garden fete and sale of work was held at the infant school, Eastbourne, on Saturday afternoon. The function was organised by the school committee in aid of school funds for picnic, prizes, Ct< The afternoon was fine, and the fete was well attended, and the financial results should be very satisfactory. The fete was opened by Mr. Nnsn, M.P., who was introduced by Mr. Jones, mayor of Eastbourne, and he congratulated the promotors on the good display they had, and their enterprise in looking lifter their school. Those in charge of the stalls were:— Cake stall, Mesdames Andrews, D. Isaacs, Golding, and Pollock; fancy stall, Mesdames Hope Lewis, Bowie, and Palmer; sweet stall, Mesdames Kinvis and Jones; produce, Mesdames Gillespie, Kent, Connor, Hollis, Heenan, Burch, Chambers, McKay, 'iind Jenkinson; Christmas Tree, Mrs. Moore, Misses Christian, King, aud Finlayson: bran tub, Mr. Hull; dolls and children’s stall, Mrs. Gerald and Mrs. Johns; jumble ; tall, Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Hollway; work stall, Mesdames I’almer, Bowie, Lewis, and Sheare; tea-rooms, Mesdames Dick, Lee, and Bennett; side-shows. Messrs. Golding, Isaacs, Andrews, and Burch; flower stall, Mesdameg Girdlestone, Mackay, and Richards. There was a display of posters by the children. Kirkcaldie’s are showing a most attractive assortment of Continental Jumpers and Cardigans for children. They are made from pure wool in all sizes and colours, finished with embroidery in contrasting shades,—Advt.
