GIFT TEA
The annual gift tea at the Anglican Boys’ Home, Lower Hutt, was held on Saturday afternoon, when the fine weather attracted a number of guests, all of whom brought gifts, so that many useful articles were received for future use, including a quantity of groceries. In addition there were several stalls, which added to the takings. Mrs. House and Mrs. Jollands had a cake and fancy stall, Misses McMillan a flower stall. Boys of the home had a vegetable stall, and helped with ice creams and afternoon tea was served indoors, Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Massey, and Mrs. Sheppard being in charge. The master and matron, Mr. and Mrs. Chaytor, received, and looked after the guests, who were shown over the home, while outside the Hutt Band played, and the cubs, under Mrs. Hoggard, gave some songs and games. Among those present were:—Mr. Henderson, of Karori, president of the committee in charge: Mr. Andrews, secretary; Rev. Archdeacon and Mrs. Hansell, and Rev, Archdeacon Johnson, and many friends from Wellington and Hutt.
