Another Identified MASKS AT MUSEUM The pictures of the masks of the “old identities” of Wellington which adorned the old Albert Hotel, published in The Dominion” on November 27, have aroused widespread interest, and the Mentification of eight or nine has been verified several times in letters received. In order to encourage further identifications the museum authorities have, during the week-end, had the masks placed in cases in the museum so that they can be seen by the general public at any hour while the museum is open. , ... Plinuner, Khaudallah, stated that No. 29 had been recognised as the mask of his great-grandfather,.Mr. Irancis Jones, who arrived in Wellington on November 9, 1842, in the ship George Fife. Mri Plimmer, in forwarding this letter to the city librarian, Mr. J. Norrie, says that he has verified those particulars, so that there is no reason.to doubt that the identity has been established. No 29 has also been recognised by Mrs. J. W. Whittaker, Richardson’s Line. Palmerston North, as her grandfather., Mr. Francis Jones, a business man of early Wellington.
